ethos

No harm to mother earth,

and ALL her beings.

This mantra resonates throughout Mylk Threads inclusive clothing that doesn't cost the earth. With my love for slow living, considered consumption is a major aspect in my business model. I strive for a minimal waste workplace; using only natural materials, making to order, composting cutoffs, sending parcels in compostable post bags, always adjusting and allowing room for growth along the way.

The Mylk threads early days idea was sparked by the Japanese concept of wabi - sabi; the art of finding beauty within the imperfections of life and accepting the natural cycle of growth and decay.  Slowing down the production of clothing, you really begin to appreciate the clothes you already own and the amount of effort and love that goes into every garment made, especially those that are made by myself.

I have been highly influenced from my background in visual art and the atmosphere of passionate artists in the studio. The Mylk Threads name originates from my desire to create thoughtful, well designed garments that are long lasting even through the early stages of pregnancy, then being breastfeeding friendly. Creating this business and working alongside motherhood has been my driving force, especially now as my daughters grow.

Mylk threads has been designed to compliment the form using a gentle palette of soft flowing fibres of the highest quality stone washed linen from Lithuania. All garments are designed and sewn by myself in Jervis Bay, Australia and have been thoughtfully assembled using french seams for maximum strength, comfort and elegance.

Mylk Threads acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to them and their cultures; and to elders both past, present and emerging.
